Jimmy Carter has been very involved in the Arab-Israeli Conflict. He has been the main peacemaker in the conflict, but has helped the Israelis before, so he is an enemy to the Arabs. Either way, he made peace between the 2 groups and fighting eventually stopped. On the 17th of September in 1978, the Camp David Accords were signed between Anwar El Sadat (Egypt) and Menachem Begin (Israel) after 13 secret meetings at Camp David. Jimmy Carter was the main peacemaker during the Camp David Accords. The Accords called for peace between the 2 groups, but that didn’t last for long after Sadat was assassinated. The Accords were signed and the meetings were held to try to stop the war and create peace between Israelis and Arabs. In the winter of 1978-1979, there was an impasse of agreement. Intifada all started when Palestinian teens started throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers. After a long 4 years of fighting, the Oslo Accords were signed by Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat. This finally ended most of the fighting, with only terrorist attacks
