In U.S. history there have been many turning points and each of these has had historical circumstances that have led to them. Many of these turning points have resulted in political, social, and economic changes. Two of these turning points are the American Revolution and George Washington’s presidency. These two turning points have made a huge impact in United States history. There were many historical circumstances that led to the American Revolution, one of them being the Proclamation of 1763. This event led the colonists to feel as though England was controlling them. England continued to control the colonists many years after that with events such as the Tea Act. The Tea Act resulted in the colonists revolting. The Intolerable Acts were then passed to keep the colonists under control. There were many battles between the British and the colonists. One very important battle is the Battle of Saratoga. This battle was a major defeat for the British and it gave hope to the colonists that they might win the war. In the final battle, the Battle of Yorktown, the British surrendered which ended the American Revolution. The Treaty of Paris was signed and the colonist had free and independent states. Many things resulted from the American Revolution. There was an increase in economic change when the colonists were in debt and it was hard to pay for the war mostly because Congress had no power to tax. Another result was that the colonists separated from England, which was a huge social change. The colonists were no longer dependent on England. A political change that resulted from this revolution was the Constitution, which still shapes our nation
