The first big moment in the war is the battle of Bunker Hill, volunteer soldiers with no experience were able to hold of the veteran British soldiers for more than two hours. Eventually they were forced to surrender their position, high ground that had view of the city Boston. Colonists that remained with the British Mindset were called loyalists, a significant battle at Moore's creek was fought between loyalists and the colonists and the colonists prevailed. This quieted the loyalists for a few years in the Carolinas. The British made an attempt to take over Charleston South Carolina but retreat in defeat after colonists on shore made every effort possible to repel them. July 4th 1776, America declared their independence after years of agony
