In the midst of the 1800’s, the United States were not very “united” at all. There was a constant question that would get passed on president-to-president without being properly answered. The Civil War was destined to happen, but it took the split moral standards of a country to bring the war to fruition. The Civil War was a easily the most important, yet unnecessary war. I believe the Civil War had to happen for the United States to be as strong as it is today. The Civil War may be the most influential war in history.

These 11 states made up what would become the Confederate States of the United States of America. Though out numbered 23 to 11, lack of supplies and shortage of soldiers compared to the North, the South resembled the early Americans in their fight for freedom from Great Britain. Ever since the separation of these states that imaginary line between North and South has been relevant even in Modern-Day America. The after effects of the Civil War were what made everything worth it. The ratification of the 13th Amendment abolished slavery in the United States, meaning President Lincoln answered the one question that had been plaguing the 15 presidents preceding him. Reconstruction began and immigration sparked in the United States. On the con side, organizations in the South started up, such as, the Ku Klux Klan. Jim Crow laws terrorized freed slaves for the next 100 years.
