People sometimes try to forget painful memory to be released from agony, but such memory is essential to have hope for future. We can learn a lesson from our memory about what to do in order not to repeat sad history. Wiesel rightly and impressively said, “The memory of evil will serve as a shield against evil.” Nowadays, more than seventy years after World War II, the majority of people in developed countries have not experienced the war. Therefore, not only keeping our own memory but also taking over others’ memory is important.
