William Shakespeare was born during a time where his family was neither poor nor rich. He was born on April 23, 1512 , in Stratsford-upon-Avon, to John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. William's father, John, was a glove maker and a tradesman. Being the third of eight children, William and his siblings grew up in a small town outside of London. The small town was 100 miles outside of London. William attended King's new school, which was a local grammar school. The school taught a classical education of Greek mythology, Roman comedy, ancient history, rhetoric, grammar, latin and maybe even Greek.
