William Shakespeare was born during a time where his family was neither poor nor rich. He was born on April 23, 1512 , in Stratsford-upon-Avon, to John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. William's father, John, was a glove maker and a tradesman. Being the third of eight children, William and his siblings grew up in a small town outside of London. The small town was 100 miles outside of London. William attended King's new school, which was a local grammar school. The school taught a classical education of Greek mythology, Roman comedy, ancient history, rhetoric, grammar, latin and maybe even Greek. William did not attend a university due to his family being in debt. Instead of going to the university, he got married at the age of eighteen to Anne Hathaway. Between the years 1583 and 1585, Shakespeare had three kids The seven years following their birth, historical records on William Shakespeare are not complete. Some scholars refer to this period of time as his "lost years" During the years of 1590 and 1592, Shakespeare's Henry IV series, Richard III, and The Comedy of Errors were performed. When the theaters decided to close in 1593, he wrote two different narrative poems. They were Venus and Adonis and The Rape of Lucrece.
