A good work of literature can influence an author’s thinking and artistic choices in his/her writing. Every text in intimately interconnected to another previous work, one work of literature that seems timeless and universally used today is Williams Shakespeare’s. Shakespeare’s plays continue in modern culture, due to its general themes like love, tragedy, lust, violence and hate. His work has set up a standard on creating driven plots and plots with a twist. Warm Bodies directed by Jonathan Levine is one of those works that has taken parts from the original adaption of Romeo and Juliet, and created its own verse of forbidden love between two people. In Romeo and Juliet, the Capulets and Montagues have an ongoing conflict and hatred for each other. They have created an imaginary wall between the two families, and fight if they cross paths with each other. In Warm Bodies, humans and zombies and Boneys are separated by cement walls, zombies and Boneys wish to kill all humans and eat their brains, while humans fight zombies in order to avoid death. The next reference and most important is the forbidden love between the lovers, Romeo, Juliet, R and Julie. Juliet and Romeo both belong to two opposing families, and cannot love each other due to their family’s disapproval and tension. R is a zombie and Julie is a human, a conflict arises when the ability of love is questioned, a dead person who preys on human flesh loves a human girl. Unlike the original Romeo and Juliet, R and Julie gradually get to know each other, as their friendship progress a true feeling of love is born. However, in Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet fall in love quickly which leads to infatuations and mistakes in both parts, resulting in their suicided. Their love seemed childish and immature, as they both die not understanding the concept of true
