William Shakespeare was an astonishing playwright, poet, and actor! He was one of the best playwrights in world history. He died at a young age of 52. He was born on April 23, 1564 and died on April 23, 1616.
William’s father, John Shakespeare, was a glove maker. John married Mary Arden, William’s mother, in 1557. William was the third of eight children.The Arden family was Roman Catholic. He was baptised as Catholic on April 26, 1564. In that time infants were baptised 3 days or so after their birth.William was born in a small market town in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. Him and his family have had problems with money and other disasters. By 1578, their family had become so poor that they didn’t have to pay the local taxes. Around age 7, William probably attended Stratford Grammar School. School teachers were highly qualified and graduated from Oxnard. Students spent about 9 hours a day in school. Teachers physically punished kids who disobeyed rules. They enforced strict discipline. Knowledge of Latin was necessary for a career in medicine, law, or church. The ability to read Latin was the sign of an educated young person.

William was only 18 while Marry was at the normal marrying age of 26. The birth of their first child, Susanna, was in 1583, only 6 months after their marriage. This is what made the marriage seemed rushed. In 1585, Marry gave birth to twins, Judith and Hamnet. Shakespeare’s son, Hamnet, died in 1596, 11 years after his birth. He wrote a play for his son’s death, Hamlet, but he decided not to write it in sorrow. Shakespeare’s death still remains a mystery. He was buried inside of the Stratford Parish Church.
