The Rise of Daniel Hale Williams Daniel Hale Williams III was an extraordinary African American surgeon. Dr. Williams, the son of a barber, was a free African American born during the 1800s to Daniel Hale Williams II and Sarah Williams. Dr. Williams’ family was heavily impacted by the ongoing history at the time. Furthermore, Dr. Williams’ ancestors were slaves. Daniel’s ancestors on both sides were a mixture of European, Native American, and African American.

Welch is now serving a long prison sentence for sexually molesting a 10 year old girl in Delaware. However, he denies he killed or rape the Maryland sisters. It was spring of 1975 in Kensington, Maryland, a time of feeling safe, and parents didn't think twice about wondering where their kids were and if they were safe.

The case involving Homer Plessy, who was brought before Judge John H. Ferguson of the Criminal Court in New Orleans originated in 1892 as a challenge to Louisiana’s Separate Car Act of 1890. The law required that all railroads operating in the state of Louisiana provide equal but separate accommodations for white and African American passengers and prohibited passengers from entering accommodations other than those to which they had been assigned on the basis of their race. It banned whites from sitting in the black cars and blacks in white cars and penalized employees for violating its terms, with the exception of nurses caring children of the other race. However there was an exception to this law that the law could not be applied to interstate

George Washington Carver was born in Diamond Grove, Missouri in January of 1864. His parents were Mary and Giles Carver, and their master was Moses Carver (the slave took up their owner’s last name.) Giles, George’s father left his mother before he was born, only to leave Mary, his mother, to raise George on her own. However, later on, Mary and George were kidnapped by northern raiders to be sold in Arkansas. George was returned frail, feeble and scrawny infant a year later in 1865 with no sign of his mother.
