On February 17th, 1942, Huey Percy Newton, named after Governor Huey P. Long, was born in Monroe, Louisiana. When Huey was a just a toddler, his family moved to Oakland, California. He was the youngest of his siblings and was very erratic and was said to have misbehaved a lot in school and on the streets. He got multiple suspensions and a few run ins with the police but eventually he matured and began to take school very seriously and pursued his education more efficiently.
