Two of the main characters are Elizabeth Proctor and Mary Warren these women are important in this story because Elizabeth is one of the many accused of being a witch and Mary is friends with the girls who accused innocent women of witchcraft including Elizabeth, she also lives and works for the Proctors. Elizabeth is a good Christian woman, but has been somewhat distant to her husband, John Proctor because she thinks he cheated on her and Mary is a young seventeen-year-old girl that regrets what she has done with her friends, but is terrified of what they will do to her if she told the truth about what she has watch what the girls have participated in.
