Context: The ratios of men and women in film that we see as in the background or the supporting roles are more men than women.
Evidence: In an article USC Anne berg associates professor Stacy L. Smith asserts that: “in a survey of the top 100-grossing movies of 2009 –including “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” “Harry potter and the Half Blood Prince” and “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” – researchers found that 32.8% of the 43,342 speaking character were female and 67.2% were male, percentage identical to that of top-grossing movies of 2008” (Keegan 1).
Reasoning: The fact that there are less women being cast in the film is also the reason why there are being paid less because the film industry thinks that women are not important or are inferior and this is the part of the reason why there are less women in the film audience or supporting characters
