Judaism is the first monotheistic religion of the modern religions, with the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh), the Mishnah and Talmud as its authoritative texts. Throughout the history Judaism, treatment of women has been an ongoing debate. While some may argue that female roles have been entirely negative, I think the role of women in traditional Judaism has been somewhat misunderstood. Following the Jewish law, women do have different roles in religious and social context than the men. This doesn’t necessarily imply that women are seen as inferior. The equality of men and women is an important part of Jewish culture.
