I took the book to work with me and read there on my breaks. I simply could not put it down. Which is also what I saw from other people that have read this book. I would without a doubt recommend this book to anyone that needed a story to read for a class because the story is exciting and they would enjoy doing this assignment. Not only would I recommend it for a student’s book report, but i would recommend this book to anyone just looking for some leisurely reading.
Wonder is a novel written by R.J Palacio about a boy, Auggie. Due to Treacher Collins syndrome, Auggie has a differently shaped face. Seeing as he already has major insecurities and trust issues due to his facial differences, it is no surprise that conflict starts to brew once he begins going to school. There's a large amount of positive and negative moments throughout Auggies 5th grade experience. Auggie is bullied and looked at differently because of his disability.
When she returns to school after her surgery with a third of a jaw removed, she faces the harsh insult and mockery from her peers and others. Her recollection of not fitting in among her schoolmates due their constant taunting was unendurable painful to her. She has to endure of being alone

Auggie 's facial deformity is what Julian uses to relentlessly tease Auggie. Auggie is entering middle school which is his greatest challenge yet. Auggie has always been homeschooled and he is cautious about what the other students will say about him, but not everyone is going to be mean to him.
In this novel, the characters start as strangers who develop into vibrant, real-life people by the end. The author helps the audience get to know the characters by changing narratives in multiple sections. The characters are very relatable as well as realistic. Olivia gives the great advice of “’we all have to put up with the bad days . . . unless you want to be treated like a baby the rest of your life’” to Auggie as a sort of pep talk and showed how she viewed the world (Palacio, 115).
