Wonder, by R.J . Palacio is a novel about a young boy, August, and his first time in middle school. Auggie has severe Treacher Collins Syndrome, a facial malformation. During his time in middle school, Auggie is bullying, and suffers from being a general outsider. Through the help of others, Auggie gets through middle school, in the end, with many friends. Everyone, including Auggie learns from the experience, something that we all can learn from too.
There is many characters in the novel. All with unique and different traits. The novel is told through many of these characters eyes. This helps us connect with each of the characters and understand the situation through everyones perspective. Some of these characters include, Summer, who went and sat with Auggie on the first day of school. Julian, Savanna and their friends, the popular group that bullied Auggie and many others. Charlotte a girl asked to help out Auggie around school. Jack Will originally Julians friend but by the end of the novel, Auggie's best mate.

I thought of who could correspond to characters in the novel. There was a Julian, the bully, and his friends. Savanna, the mean girl, and her friends. Jack Will, the follower, and so on. I could think of all of these characters at our own school. But I couldn’t think of anyone who corresponds to the character Summer, the girl who out who out of her own will went and sat with August on the first day. This, to me was really sad thinking we didn’t have one person in our year group that, to me, strongly related to the character Summer. At the start of the novel, the precept ‘When you have the choice between being right, and being kind, chose kind’ was mentioned. This relates to the Summers actions strongly and something that we need to implement on our own year group at
