Do you have conflicting traits? Well, In the book Wonder by R.J. Palacios, Jack has many conflicting traits. Jack is sometimes nice to a kid who doesn’t have any friends. He stands up for the kid when kids bully him for his appearance. Jack also is a little mean sometimes to the kid behind his back. Jack has many conflicting traits.

One of Jack’s many conflicting traits is kind. Specifically, Jack is kind because he treats Auggie, who has birth defects that make him look odd, like a normal person. He talks to Auggie and tells jokes and sits by him, while nobody else is willing to because he looks the way he looks. Also, when Auggie first came to school, Jack offered to give Auggie a tour of the new school, and again treated him like a normal person. Finally, Jack is kind because he has other friends, but he spends more time with Auggie, because he doesn’t have many friends. Jack can be nice, but at times, he can also be very mean. There was a time, on halloween, Auggie dressed in a different costume then he was supposed to, so Jack didn’t know he was there. Then he started saying really mean things like, “If I looked like him, I would kill myself,” or “I don’t want to hang out with him, but he goes wherever I go,” behind Auggie’s back. After this, Auggie went away and cried. Additionally, when Jack’s mom asked him to give a tour of the school to Auggie because he was “deformed.”

Jack has many traits that appear throughout time , like being nice, brave, or mean. Jack goes to a school with a boy named Auggie who has facial birth defects, and he treats him like a normal kid. I know a kid who is different, but I treat him like a normal kid. He doesn’t have too many friends, but that doesn’t stop me from being a friend to him. Jack fights with, protects, and accepts Auggie at their school. I wonder if Jack has any other traits, I wonder if is strong, lonely, maybe he is something
