World War One was caused by one action leading to another and then to another like the domino effect, in this essay will be many causes or underlying causes of World War One. The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand and his wife on June 28, 1914, in Sarajevo, Bosnia is considered the main cause of World War One. He was on his way to inspect the imperial armed forces in Bosnia. While there he was touring around in a car with his wife when Nedjelko Cabrinovic, a Serbian nationalist, threw a bomb and it rolled off the back of their car injuring one of the guards. Later that day while he was going to see the guard that was injured when the Archduke’s procession took a wrong turn at the junction of Appel quay and Franzjosefstrasse, where one of Cabrinovic’s cohorts, Gavrilo Princip, happened to be waiting. Where Gavrilo, who was part of the Black Hand, then took the gun shots at point blank range to kill Franz Ferdinand and his wife which would lead eventually lead to one of the worst wars known to history. The country could also very good use imperialism with militarism, because when that country would expand they could just send over anything they have stockpiled to help conquer any other lands. Militarism was defined as the “domination of the military man over the civilian, and undue preponderance of military demands, and emphasis on military considerations” by Alfred Vagts, who was a German historian in World War One. Militaristic countries would race against each other to get the best weapons as fast as they could and the countries would have contingency plans just in case if something were to happen that was no planned on.
