The countries that were involved in world war 1 were Serbia, Russia, France, Britain, Italy and the USA. The side that won the war was Great Britain, the United States, and the Soviet Union formed a Grand Alliance that was the key to victory. Germany did not know they lost the war because German territory was rarely occupied in the war while Germany conquered a vast Empire in the east and subdued Romania and Serbia in the South. The war that the Versailles treaty officially put an end to was the First World War.
