World War II WWII was in part the aftermath of WWI. The Treaty of Versailles was very harsh on Germany since they lost the war. They had to pay for war reparations that cost them a huge amount of money. On top of war loses, this treaty left Germany in complete poverty. People were starving and money was worth nothing. This was a perfect scenario for a person thirsty of power to rise in power. Hitler was proclaimed the “Fuhrer.” He promised his people a better life and economy for their country. In order to achieve this, Hitler rearmed Germany and allied with Benito Mussolini from Italy. The “Fuhrer” started expanding and making Germany more and more powerful. In 1940, Germany attacks France using airborne infantry and power. (britannica.com) They destroyed French fortification believed to be undestroyable. After French defeat, Germany had control of French ports that were very close to Great Britain. So the next country to attack was Great Britain. Island hopping was a strategy used by US to get closer to Japan in the Pacific Theatre. On February 19, 1945 the US attacked the island of Iwo Jima and lasted until March 26, 1945.
