Humans have a natural instinct to explore, but it depends if it is out, or up. The Wright brothers were inspired by the sky, "Interestingly in 1878, Bishop Wright brought home a toy helicopter for his children. Wilbur and Orville were intrigued by the novel item, which ignited an early interest in aviation" ("The Wright Brothers”). They had a great interest in reaching up to the sky and touching it. The little helicopter inspired them to try and fly up into the sky, where no other person had ever gone. To get there, they had to have considerable developed an interest in mechanics, "The Wright brothers initially fashioned and sold toys; later they made tools, including a lathe, a newspaper-folding device, and a printing press" ("Wilbur and …show more content…
The Wright brothers were the militaries main suppliers of planes in the early years of military aeronautics. "The United States Army relied most heavily on Wright planes in the early years" ("Wilbur and Orville Wright" American Decades). The Wright Brothers started the military on the path of aeronautics. They pioneered flight in the military and the military found a limitless number of ways to use the plane and develop it in their own way, and the military turned it into the high-powered machine that it is today. The brothers inspired other people to go on their journey of thinking up instead of out, however, they were overshadowed by another group of people that made planes that took off and landed on water. The military then turned their money to the sea plane. Because it was easier to pilot, and it lighter so it could fly faster and turn quicker. The Wright brothers had their business taken away by the very people that they inspired to work hard. The brothers did not only inspire the all the future generations by selling their planes to the military. “...,turning to the brothers to teach several officers to fly" ("Wilbur and Orville Wright" American Decades). The brothers taught most of the officers to fly the planes that they were selling to the military. They inspired the next generation of flyers by directly training them. They inspired people to become pilots and those pilots trained others and so on, the flight program stems from the brothers inspiring people to fly and develop their own planes. But they did not only show off their plane to the people of the US, "While Wilbur was off dazzling the Europeans, Orville stayed behind to work on the government project" ("Wilbur and Orville Wright" Contemporary), they inspired Europeans to develop their own planes too.
