Some people, they are always positive, some are always negative, others are both positive and negative. It’s hard to tell, but people don’t realize that and make decisions to change their life the way it is. If you stay positive, you’re right, but negative might mean that you’re wrong. That’s why in the story “Hatchet” a 13-year-old boy is in a plane crash in a forest. He was really negative, but he learned that his actions made a change, and he wasn’t doing everything correctly. So he tried to make more unavoidable changes that were hard, but he stayed positive. For example, he knew the fort wouldn’t work out for him, so he ripped it apart, trying to make a better, stronger fort so he would stay positive and safe at night when he’s hiding at night. There’s another point when Brian doesn’t know how to survive, but then he thinks back and figures out how surviving goes along and stops worrying. Lastly, another point for when the book shows this theme is when he’s worried he’s going to starve to death, but he uses logic and science to help him find food to survive. What was going on was that he was worried because when there’s no food, you can greet your death. So he panicked until he figured out that he can use berries to stop starvation. All of this shows the theme “Worrying is never the answer” because he freaks out every time, but realizes that he should calm down to help him fight the fears of dying.
