Greenhouse The greenhouse is where the inmates grow plants and vegetables and learn about gardening. The produce made in the greenhouse goes towards the kitchen. By giving them the exposure of working with plants and vegetables it gives them an outlook on what and how food is made and the work that goes into it.
Windmills/Energy Source At the PD Penitentiary we decided to use dual power sources. We use both Underground hydro lines run from the mainland and wind turbines. Our goal was to have a more eco friendly energy option. The main source of power comes from the wind turbines and the backup is the underground hydro lines. The use of eco friendly energy also doubles as a learning opportunity for the inmates teaching them about how little things can affect the overall outcome of climate change.
