When it comes to relevant issues in the U.S., education plays a big role within the society. The surroundings, extracurricular activities, and teachers are all a part of creating education. A child with a solid educational background will have a greater chance of achieving total success in life. Unfortunately, most children with a solid educational background also have parents with solid bank accounts. Poor children are often held back later in life by their lack of a good education. The difference between a good and bad education significantly shows in the way children look at their future. For most students, the education they receive is highly based on pure luck, making academic opportunities into a kind of lottery. An example of this is shown in New Orleans, Louisiana, where a student’s opportunity for educational success is often determined by where he or she lives, as well as other demographic characteristics, rather than solely based on their abilities.

Teachers represent leadership within a school and provide all the tools on how a student can be the best to receive excellent education. All schools have teachers, but the wealthier schools have more of a flexibility to pick and choose the best of them. In other words, the wealthy schools get the best and the poor schools will more than likely get the ‘rejects.’ The teacher in the wealthier school is successful and will push their students to attend college and go beyond, meanwhile the teacher who is just there for a job and money will not care enough to push their students to get out of high school.
