Gang activity is very common to hear about nowadays, whether it would to hear about it on the news, or even in the community you live in. Gangs are constantly recruiting young adults to join their group. One of the most dangerous gangs in the U.S is called the La Mara Salvatrucha. Translating it to English means, “ Street Tough Salvadoran Posse”. This gang is also known as “MS-13”. This gang originated in El Salvador. It then moved to Honduras, on to Guatemala, and then it reached the United States. It drastically became a huge issue in our country, and all over. Many of the crimes that they are involved in are robbery, rape, murder, drug and human smuggling, and many other crimes. The MS-13 gang also runs a very well- financed prostitution ring. They mainly focus on recruiting young adults because they are easily influenced, come from broken homes, or are enticing them. They are enticing them by saying that it is a great group to be involved in, and telling them that they will earn money, party, and basically meet all of their needs. Then once they join there is no escaping. Once you commit to this gang, you’re committed for life. Otherwise, they will kill you. Being committed to this gang you have to obey all of the rules. You cannot do anything without the leader's permission. You must go to all of the meetings, all of the outings, and basically just do anything they tell you to do, and if you don’t they will kill you. This gang is also very flexible. Most gangs do not like change. But this gang is constantly changing. When they enter a new area, they don't like to be known, and they stay on the down-low.
