Milgram Study The Milgram study was very interesting to read and watch videos about. Milgram wanted to leave a lasting impression on the psychology world and he definitely achieved that goal. Some people think that this experiment was inhumane and others thought that it was a good experiment to learn from. Milgram’s purpose in this experiment was to see how people would react to an authority figure telling them what to do even if it was wrong and against their morals. One reason people did not like this experiment is because the people asking the questions and giving the electric shocks had huge amounts of stress put on them. The highest voltage was 450 volts. 65% of the people would go to that voltage. Most of the Milgram project was not to ethical standards. This experiment made people think that they were hurting someone with electric shock. This experiment also made people who went to the highest shock sometimes believe that they killed the person in the other room because the person in the other room getting shocked would go quiet as if he was dead. This experiment was also a big burden to people who participated, it made people very uncomfortable. The initial experiment was conducted at Yale University and later moved to a run down apartment. The reason they did this is because people coming to Yale thought highly of this prestigious university. They figured out that people were more likely to go to higher volts when at Yale then when they were at the apartment building.
