Learning with whom to surround myself with shaped my college experiences with unique opportunities to learn and build new skills. As an old adage states, “Birds of a feather flock together,” I am planning to collaborate and learn with other students that are hoping to revolutionize and lead the future of medicine. At Yale, my talents could expressed academically, socially, and clinically through learning from renowned professors and mentors. With Yale’s eminence, I hope to become a leader of medical research and clinical care, preferentially involving Medicinal Cannabis as a research topic. Specifically, I hope to study genetic or cellular based conditions, and diseases that may be treated with this natural medicine, which the anti-tumor properties of this drug interests me most currently. While numerous universities throughout the world are researching Cannabis, Yale is one of the few within America that is performing research related to Cannabis and Cannabinoids, as well as addiction studies, which all intrigue me as a possible future research topics. When hearing a patient describe an unpleasant experience with a physician or a certain medical treatment, I analyze what commonalities are present that lead to the patient’s dissatisfaction. I plan to actively prevent these issues by prioritizing my patients above everything else and treating every patient with the kindness and respect every human deserves and taking the time to listen to them as a healthcare provider and friend.
