The most well renowned discussion topic being debated about in America today between politicians, news casters, and people is about marijuana and if it should be legal in the United States or not. This controversial topic is most commonly discussed at political debates due to the diverse opinions and studies based upon this subject. With the 2016 presidential election underway, politicians must defend their stance for the party that they represent. Both the Democratic and Republican parties have different stances on this topic, with the Democrats having a very strong case for the purpose in legalizing cannabis for medicinal and recreational use in the United States. Addressed in this paper is how the legalization of cannabis could not only benefit but also completely change America and what it is made up of.

There are three different ways that cannabis can be used, those are marijuana, hashish, and hash oil. Marijuana is made from the dried flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant, this can be smoked or used to make edible products such as brownies. Hashin is made from the secret gum of the plant, it is dried out and pressed into small blocks and then smoked. Hash oil, which has the most effect out of all the 3 cannabis products, is a very thick oil coming from the hashish which is smoked. People use cannabis as a way to experience euphoria and relaxation, it alters a person’s mood, thoughts, and perceptions of the environment. Those who use cannabis most commonly feel tired, drowsy, talkative, hungry, or anxious at first but what is left unknown is that later in life it can decrease your memory and motivation while increasing your risk to get a respiratory disease.
