As a dancer, I know how easy it is to get frustrated and want to give up when you make a mistake. I can see the theme of not giving up in You are the Electric Boogaloo. I think not giving up and learning from your mistakes is a big part of growing up. Making a mistake while performing, and even rehearsing, can be kind of terrifying. I feel like everyone is watching me and knows I made a mistake. It sometimes almost feels like they’re completely judging me. The truth is, everyone makes mistakes, and it’s okay. Falling is okay. Doing the steps wrong, even though you know them, is okay. Not getting the steps the first time is okay. When you make a mistake, you just have to learn from it and get better. The narrator’s shirt gets stuck to the floor.
