Every time I log onto a social media site and scroll through the feed, I see young Americans misunderstanding politics and engaging in ruthless cyber battles with other users. What amazes me however is the number of teens and young adults who do not have the civic capacity to determine what is real and what is false. The comparison of civic knowledge and how it is currently the same as it was 40 to 50 years ago on page 20 is leading to mass havoc within the cyber spectrum. Social media especially has created an unprecedented way of illustrating political candidates and policies to the point where young voters do not know what ideology they are supporting or even who they are voting for. Often time is history it can be seen where governments do not give citizens the right to free speech. This is of course our First Amendment right as citizens of the United States but on social media people seem to forget that there are people on the other end who have rights just as much as they themselves do. Paulat’s research has compiled the fact that young Americans attack each other many times based on political views through social media. Sometimes people may know each other within these electronic disputes but people can also be strangers. Paulat discusses how social media created a platform for social activists and speakers to give up to date information to a wide spread audience anywhere in the world but it can still be considered dangerous to perform this act of spreading knowledge. I have witnessed it myself to see a social media user for example posting about a political event, later or within seconds the poster is cyber attacked with rude or mean comments due their political views. This does not seem right in the twenty-first century that if a person has the inalienable right to free speech based on the citizenship they should be attacked for what they
