Social media has enhanced the world we know by allowing communication to be so much easier than it has ever been in the past. Users have access to so many different people (artists, employers, family, etc.) and can be in touch more often. Even with the controversy over the use of social media, there is no doubt it has greatly changed our lives. One of the darker parts of social media is the rumors that spread through it rapidly. While some choose to not get caught up in such speculations there is still thousands, even millions, of people who will believe most things found online. This simple gullibility some users carry allow for confusion among the masses, some examples include; Bush did 9/11, SpongeBob is cancelled, the Earth is being invaded by Martians. While some may say it is hurting the millennial generation’s ability to communicate, I would argue that it is improve the way we write and stay in touch with each other. Many claim that with the texting lingo kids today use their vocabulary is limited, but, in my personal experience, the older generations are the ones more likely to shorten words and use less grammatically correct methods of communication. A common trait found in most millennials is the want of companionship. When we can’t find it in our towns and we feel alone in the world, we turn to social media as an outlet of opportunity to find others who share the same hopes, dreams, and interests as we do. Social media is allowing it’s users to find companionship with some people we may have never gotten the chance to without it. If anything, social media has allowed it’s users to be more free and open with themselves and made communication between the masses easier. Letters take days to send and receive but within 30 seconds I could type my friend who moved to California a text and achieve a more connected
