The purpose of this paper is to analyze or detail a summary of the effectiveness of the function of chapter 13 between chapter 12 and chapter 14 of 1 Corinthians. The issues raised in 1 Corinthians 12, and conclude in 1 Corinthians 14 are as follows. Commencing with the city of Corinth was similar to Hollywood of today; full of wealth, various cultural background, materialistic lifestyle habits, wickedness, and corruption. The congregation in query consisted of new Christian believer from the Jewish faith, free slaves, and Gentiles who were transitioning from pagan’s lifestyle of worshiping false gods to adjusting in serving the Almighty God. Since the core issues of the congregation dwelled on the spiritual gifts terrorizing the church members, chapter 13 became the catalyst for resolution to those problems. Schatzmann indicated, “One of Paul's main concerns in chapters 12-14 is to demonstrate that charismatic gifts are not ends in themselves but are given for particular purposes.” Thereby, Paul’s letters consisted of guidelines that were first to inform the congregation of their pagan background in need of disciplinary measures. Concerning spiritual gifts, they should not create scandal as these gifts are granted by God to each as his discretion and as he determined as follows: 1.There are given through the Spirit a message of wisdom; 2. to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit; 3. to another faith by the same Spirit; 4. to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit; 5. to another miraculous powers; 6. to another prophecy; 7. to another distinguishing between spirits; 8. to another speaking in diverse kinds of tongues; 9. to another the interpretation of tongues; 10. There are distinct kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 11.There are various kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
