19 Primary Pros And Cons Of Legalizing Weed

When most people think of marijuana, expected thoughts typically come to mind: green leaf, relaxation, smoking, creativity, addiction or hash oil. There are most likely a million different things that come to mind when someone hears the word marijuana. Some people love it, and some people hate it. But what some do not know is that Cannabis has changed Colorado for the better ever since Amendment 64 of the legalization of recreational marijuana in 2012 was passed. While 46% of the people voted against legalizing pot, 54% voted for the legalization because of personal health benefits, economic use and it is less dangerous than alcohol and tobacco.

Supporters of marijuana legalization have disputed that pot is not as addictive as other hardcore drugs, ones such as heroin and cocaine, but people who have specialized in addiction treatment have come to the conclusion that yes after a long period of use, it usually does lead to addiction. Some addictions can be a good thing but in the case of drugs, it’s usually not and can lead to very bad situations. The next thing the bloggers mention is altered perception. By definition a drug changes the way the human body works and responds, and marijuana is a drug that when under the influence it will lead the users to experience a high that will alter their perception. For example, low to moderate doses distort perception that is truly enough to cause a traffic incident. In statistical studies they even show that weed is one of the most widespread illegal drugs that are discovered in fatally injured and impaired drivers (Anonymous). Users think that since they haven’t been drinking that it’s okay for them to drive but that assumption is highly incorrect.
