Against the Legalization of Marijuana There so many different names for cannabis, which is a drug that send THC into your body and gets you high’, like ganja, reefer,gas.and so many other terms. What most people call it and the term I am choosing to use is Marijuana.For years we have been fight fight the war on drug. Marijuana like any other drugs and like alcohol can have poor effect on your physical health as well as your mental. Keep marijuana illegal is a battle that we have dealt with for years and to this day continue to deal with this problem. Even though many people believe that marijuana has little to no effect on you it does. The purpose of the “war” was to “dramatically increased the size and presence of federal drug control agencies” (NIDA,2018). He wanted to be able to slow down the movement of drug in the community as well as protect people. Marijuana, just like other kind of drugs is apart of this, President Nixon wanted to get mind altering drugs off the street and keep them off the street. The battle against drug isn’t new, people have been debating and voting against the legalization of marijuana for a little over 100 years. In 1937, the Marijuana Tax Act was created. This act was put in place to tax people who grew Marijuana freely. So during this time marijuana was actually legal but because the tax was so high people couldn't pay. The people during the late 30’s and 40’s were furious at this act because they didn't like the taxation and how high it was. People would often not be able to pay the tax and would have to face jail time. Nixon, just like the MTA, wanted to protect people from the dangerous effect of marijuana. Making marijuana legal would do the same thing back that we had in the 30’s and 40’s. With the legalization of marijuana the tax on it would go back to being incredibly high and would increase the rate of people not being able to pay their taxes. We would end up
