The 1920’s is referred to the “Golden Age” of American Sports. The United States had strong opinions about sports during this time. Several people had more free time, which means stadiums and sports centers were being made constantly. Babe Ruth was one of the most famous baseball players in the 1920’s. Babe was very inspirational to thousands of people all over the world. Ruth always got the stands rolling in excitement by his home runs, which tended to be better than all the other players on the team (Sports). Social media, television, and the radio has a huge effect as to why people are so influenced to play sports. Most people will see most sports on television, but otherwise they see or hear it from social media and the radio (Covil). Baseball was the biggest, most popular sport in the 1920’s. Most people were either going to baseball games, following baseball on social media, or playing baseball themselves, which is how all the famous baseball players were created (Sports). The Cincinnati Red Stockings were a vintage baseball team that played by the rules at all times during the 1860’s (The Red). The first baseball game ever played by professionals were The Red Stockings, who won 130 games. The Red Stockings had 57 victories before the team actually lost a baseball game (Cincinnati). Five years later, the National League was founded in 1876 by William Hulbert to replace the National League Association. William believed this was disorganized and not managed the right way. He figured out a way to do baseball differently. In 1901, the national league teams rival was created. Starting in 1903, the best teams would compete against each other to see which team would make it to the playoffs (National).
