Fashion became an important part of the 1950’s with the culture changes and social changes. After World War 2 was over there was a bigger break of fabrics, giving them a new look of fashion. By this happening in the 50’s clothing became a way to express society 's individual identity in the decade. Russia’s climate affected women’s fashion in the 50’s majorly.
Women’s ongoing fight for equality from the 1920s to the 1970s was reflected through their attire. The 1920s were marked by the shockingly short hemlines and their right to vote. While women struggled to get fair pay in the 1930s, they got hired more often than men, which gave them greater independence. However, due to the gloom of the Great Depression, women lost their confidence and their clothing became more conservative. By contrast, the 1940s provided greater opportunities as the United States went to war.
To the women in these decades, beauty was the most crucial factor to guarantee their marriage; hence, they tried their best to be fashionable, purchased feminine products and participate in beauty contests informed constantly by media. History of 1940s fashion In the 1940s people dressed really nicely and looked fabulous the majority of the time. Back then women covered their skin most of the time. However, over time women began to show less and less skin. The 1940s was a mix of comfort and fashion. Men wore suits, bow ties, and hats all during the day.
How did the demands of a total war during ww2 affect the clothing that women wore in Europe during and after the war? During WW2 in Britain, clothing had to be closely monitored and rationed. Tokens were used to buy clothing which meant having to make very difficult decisions on what to purchase. Extra Coupons were given to children as they grew over time.
After World War I, women’s fashion took a turn and prospered into an exciting and new vibrant style. Society previously held tight boundaries on how women should dress. There was no law to the way they could dress, but simply that their morals were tighter and they had an unspoken, common knowledge before the 1920s of how women should dress appropriately.
As World War II came to an end, the United States entered the 50s. This decade became a major influential time that brought many cultural and societal changes. Categories such as the economy, where a boom in new products increased, the technology world which incorporated new medicines and computers, entertainment when the television became popular and the overall lifestyles that Americans adapted to. All of these topics reshaped and created several advancements throughout society during the 1950s.

For example Jackie Kennedy was a fashion figure-head during the 60 's. As people started to rebel against conforming fashion began to spread into two different vessels. Music birthed a whole new meaning to self-expression.
