The film, The Return of Martin Guerre, takes place in the sixteenth century in a French village. The story primarily focuses on the tedious relationship between Martin Guerre and his wife Betrande de Rols. The plot begins with Martin returning from the Hundred’ Years War after previously vanishing from his family and friends. Peculiarly, the villagers warmly welcome him despite his mysterious departure for eight years. Although the majority of his friends and family are eager to have Martin back, a few villagers are suspicious of Martin.
They discover the phone number of Mr. James Reardon. They dial the number and find out he works for the FBI.
The story is set in New South Wales. It is told entirely in the ethical terms of the raw Australian outback of around 1900, and the racial dispositions in the film are solidly drawn from that period. The themes of
In defining the term “vertigo,” Robin Wood observed, “the sensation has been explained, I believe, by psychologists as arising from the tension between the desire to fall and the dread of falling- an idea it is worth bearing in mind in relation to the whole film.” John Ferguson, also known as “Scottie” by his friends, was the protagonist in this film. He quit his job as a detective when he failed to save the life of a police officer because of his suddenly overwhelming fear of heights. Given the title of the film, the “vertigo shot” was used often; this shot occurs when the camera is moved backward while the camera is zoomed in. It creates depth and illusion and when done repeatedly, it really brings to life what John was feeling

The film entitled “An American Crime”, is about a young girl name Sylvia Likens that was murdered and physically abused by her caregiver Gertrude Baniszewski and her children. Gertrude was a church member in the community that the Likens family had just moved in. Sylvia and Jenny parents were split, they lived with their mother while their father was on the road working. In July 1965, the father came back into town to get the mother and they decided to leave the kids with Gertrude while they were out on the road, in which he would pay her weekly for keeping the girls. Due to the girl’s parent’s check being late, Gertrude commenced to get physical with the girls.
Holmes is a blue eyed charming man who scams insurance companies for money to open up other businesses. He marries women then murders them so that he can collect their insurance money and properties. Holmes kills hundreds of young women and children for no reason, and for the longest gets away with it. This can allude to the police brutality incidents that keep happening in today’s world. The police kill unarmed people for no reason, similar to Holmes killing the women for no reason.
2. Vertigo is a film noir that was released in 1958. Vertigo followed a former detective named Scottie who was tricked by his friend and a con-woman. The con-woman (real name Judy) pretended to by friend’s wife and fake a suicide in a plot to murder the friend’s real wife. Scottie’s character followed Judy around town after being hired by his friend Gavin due to Gavin’s so-called suspicions of his wife having a possible mental illness.
Alfred Hitchcock’s film Vertigo (1958) was voted the “best film ever made” by the 2012 British Film Institute, and for good reason. The plot is elaborate and intriguing and the cinematography is legendary. On top of this, the characters, like good characters should, all have their own needs and wants that are evident in the film. The needs of these characters affect each other and they affect the story and they all follow one common theme: control. Our protagonist, John “Scottie” Ferguson’s wants and needs differ greatly throughout the film, but his only constant is his yearning to get over his acrophobia, or fear of heights.

Watching the Film Crash directed by Paul Haggis was a great experience. The setting of the film takes place in the city of Los Angeles where viewers encounter a scene where Detective Graham, and partner Ria encounter themselves in a car accident with a women known as Kim Lee. As the scene continues officer Ria walks out the car she is in with Graham and confronts Kim Lee. When the scene is over it progresses to the day before. The first scene that caught my attention was with the scene of Peter and Anthony, when they exit the restaurant.
