The 1980 U.S.A men’s Olympic hockey team was the greatest team in history. It was a team of college kids with one of the best and most dedicated coaches ever to coach the sport of ice hockey. With a team full of hardworking guys willing to push their limits to achieve their goal of winning gold for the country of America. With their coach knowing exactly how to make each player better at their position and overall individual. The Olympic games were taking place in Lake Placid, New York in 1980. These men would have to overcome amazing odds if they wanted to beat the Soviets and take home the gold. One of the greatest assets of this American team was Herb Brook’s talent on coaching the kids. Herb Brooks was one of the most dedicated coaches in history of hockey. He would sometimes call his buddies as early as 2 a.m. on what they thought of some line combinations Herb had created over his night. He would find good chemistry to make his be as good as possible being at peak performance every time they stepped out onto the ice. Yes at the beginning there were some fights at practices when the team first came together as a unit. With Herb though as the coach he handled this perfectly letting them go at for them to realize they were all going for the same goal which was achieving gold for their country. It took a lot for a player from Boston College to play with on a line with a player from the University of Minnesota that meant that everyone was on the same page and already created chemistry in the matter of just a few weeks of being together.
