Have you read George Orwell’s novel ‘1984’? If yes, you would know how stupidly insane it is to live in a place like Oceania where your minds are so manipulated and tampered with by the leaders, that you are forced to think and act the way they want you to. And if I say that a place like that exists in modern society? Yes, there is an Oceania in the real world and we know it by the name of North Korea. For the movie buffs (and for those who cannot read a lot!) a movie by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg-‘The Interview’ clearly depicts what an incredible mess North Korea is. It is a place where lying is not a big deal. The government lies to the outside world. The government lies to the people. The press lies to the people. The people lie to each other. The tour guides lie to tourists. It’s intense. The government hammers away at the message that the U.S. is preparing to attack North Korea, the press depicts South Korea as a suffering and American-occupied country, the leaders’ speeches talk about North Korea being the envy of the world with the highest quality of life. The North Korean people are brainwashed to such an extent that they know of nothing else than what is told them and by having no comparison from which to become despondent (except the few who obtain information and later defect), it appears they live in a world they assume is normal and from that have a genuine love for the Kims – nearly everybody wears a pin badge bearing one or both of them and many bow to the statues before work in the morning. They believe in everything they have been told as they have never known the full facts, or been given the means to find out or make a personal
