After playing the game over the past four days, the book 1984 has taken on a new understanding as I, along with the entire AP English Language class, took on the challenge to take on George Orwell’s world. I did not feel particularly paranoid or challenged during the game but saw these characteristics in my classmates. And it was interesting to watch how more or less suspicious people became as the game went on. I had already decided that I would not attempt to guess the thought police due to the risk not nearly outweighing the reward. However now that I have seen who the thought police are, it’s safe to say Olivia is not as subtle as she thinks she is. Ashley’s pre-calculus class that has a very high concentration of AP English Language students, and plenty of downtime for people watching and slip-ups. My one infraction, which was repealed, took place after Ms. Ashley’s class when someone reported me for walking out of the class with my lunch box in my left hand. In all honesty, if there was a class where I was going to get in trouble that was the class, there were easily a hand full of thought police in there. In that class there was one point when Jack Henry was talking to Olivia, suspecting she was thought police, and Olivia deflected the conversation to who she suspected was the thought police. Presumably, because I was sitting there minding my own business I was involved and Jack Henry, whether he believed it or not, asked if I was the thought police. It was interesting to be speculated as thought police, I was very observant of people who were breaking the rules, even if I choose not to report them. And it was very fun to give people vague answers when they blatantly asked me if I were thought police, it was their own risk to take to guess me as thought
