In chapter 8 “Speaking Smartly about the Salem Witchcrafts” thesis is Samuel Sewall 's family life during the crisis of the Salem witch trials. Samuel Sewall 's brother Stephen who was the director of the court throughout the trials, had fallen ill putting stress onto Sewall himself. In spite of this Sewall was facing issues in his home life. For example, Samuel had to give his son corporal punishment because Joseph had thrown a brass knob at his sister Betty causing her head to start bleeding. In addition, Joseph acted up again by throwing a tantrum, later he swallowed a bullet but later excreted it in the orchard.

Captain John Smith had the greatest impact on Samuel's development during his time in Jamestown. Before Samuel came to Jamestown and met Captain Smith, he would lash out and did not know how to control his anger. So, Captain Smith teaches him to use one of his strategies to control his anger. On page 207, 208 it says," I hear Captain Smith's voice in my head: Samuel... do not let your anger get the best of you." Chanel it - let it give you strength to change things..." As you can see Captain Smith had the greatest impact of Samuel's development in Jamestown by teaching him to control his anger.

In “The Selling of Joseph a Memorial”, Sewall refutes the general beliefs about slavery by using the Puritans’ strong belief in God and the Bible to give supporting verses for his answers on servitude. While Sewall objected to slavery he presented a rather Pharisaical perspective on slavery and then proceeded to manipulate the Bible to support his answers to the objections. Sewalls’ view on slavery was selfish at best.

The first was to be very rich and successful and the second was to be married and have a life with Daisy.
Samuel Johnson, a black man who lived in the late 1700s to early 1800s, began his life as a slave, but was able to earn his freedom in his early adult years. Racist laws, social behaviors, and events, prevented Johnson from living a normal life. The obstacles he faced, from having to earn his and his family’s freedom to being repressed from the racist behavior that resulted from Turner’s Rebellion, proved that it was merely the color of his skin that determined the course of his life. Despite the fact Samuel Johnson became legally free, he still dealt with the prejudices of a country weighed down by the chains of slavery.

The second son of five children born to Henry James, a theologian, and Mary Robertson James, and he was the younger brother of William James (born 1842), who later grew to become a famous psychologist and philosopher. Henry James made his first of many visits to Europe in the years 1843 and 1845. Then from the year 1845 to 1855, the James family lived in Albany (New York State) and New York. He later spent the better part of five years living mostly in Geneva, London, Paris, Boulogne and Bonn, while he took to visiting America during the years 1858-9.
Over the past years there has been momentum on gender equality. With success continually rising, however, one area that remains male dominant is late-night television. Every covenant God has made with mankind is extremely important, each and every one of them shaping this history of God on earth. David’s covenant is so significant because David shows his amazing faith in God, trusting in Him to build a kingdom, one that cannot be held by a sinner or it will be torn from him, one that is to be secured not by himself but in one of his descendants. The kingdom will not even happen if the descendants of David are unrighteous and rebellious towards God. The kingdom will be established and reign under a descendant of David, God promises that the thrown shall be established forever. Isaiah sees this son of David, a “Prince of Peace” who establish and uphold the kingdom with justice and righteousness.
