Whether you like guns or you hate them, you must understand that the ownership of firearms is a right; A RIGHT…NOT a privilege. You must understand that America is a republic, NOT a democracy. That means that our rights cannot be changed or ended by a vote. ““The Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms.” – Samuel Adams”

It is your right (as protected by the first amendment) to oppose the 2nd amendment. Just as it is the right of a KKK member to speak out against black people having equal rights as white folks. However, it is NOT your right to try to strip the rights of a certain amount of people because you believe that right is wrong or outdated. In the USA, we’re not even CLOSE…We have 466 violent crimes per 100,000 people. So I must ask, why do you feel it necessary to disarm us?

I must digress and tell you that while I carry a sidearm to protect my family, that is not the only reason. As stated in the constitution, firearms are here to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government. Now, whether you agree with that statement or not, it’s not up for debate…It’s the constitution. So, whether I believe that or not, it does not matter. That is what our founding fathers believed and that’s what’s important.

Now, the argument that, “the 2nd amendment only applies to a well-regulated militia (like the national guard) and has nothing to do with individuals” is an obvious ignorance of our country and the founding documents. Look at the militia act of 1796. That act required all able bodied men to own a MILITARY rifle (NOT a musket) so that it could be at the ready should that person be needed to defend his
