Congress has the best plan for the U.S. Reconstruction. The plan Congress made gives freedmen the right to vote. It recognizes freedmen 's rights as well. Congress’s plan lets the Southerns keep their property but doesn’t reimburse them for all of their lost and damaged property. The plan uses military law and governors.
Although a career politician, working as a political intern as early as 1977, having been in the Montana Legislature, Lieutenant governor, and the House of Representatives, Rehberg had little to point to in the way of effect. A “reformed” member of the House Appropriations committee, he was a specialist. During the three-year period of 2008-2010, be brought forty earmarks to Montana, over $19 million, an impressive feat for a Congressmen from a state with under a million voters. This was one of the things Tester attacked both Conrad Burns, against whom he ran in the 2006 election, and later Denny Rehberg on. When the Republicans revolted against earmarks, they hung their Montana Congressman out to dry.
Chapter 4: The Statistics Behind Stealth Campaigns The battle between Christian Right politicians and anti-Christian Right politicians has been a long one, most distinguishably beginning in the 1920s with the clash between evolutionists and anti-evolutionists (pp. 3). While this issue is still in debate, modern day attention is being drawn to “stealth campaigns” – that is, as paraphrased from page 83 of School Board Battles, Christian Right political candidates’ downplay of their connections to Christian coalitions and exaggeration of their moderate viewpoints to the public, all while organizing voters in conservative churches. The subject is controversial and one of the main topics discussed in Melissa Deckman’s book, School Board Battles.
The other side would argue that the districts aren’t representing the people if they are carefully constructed by the majority leader. They aren’t going to really represent the people they are going to represent the
Proponents of Nevada's system of electing judges have argued that competitive election of judges is the most democratic way of ensuring that judges remain accountable to the people. Proponents add that elections affirm the electoral beliefs of candidates who present themselves for judicial positions. These arguments rest on the reality that judges cannot be politically neutral in their personal capacities. Rather than conceal the political penchants of judicial candidates, it is better to have them known. Such political inclinations can only be known through campaigns that precede judicial elections.
Proposition 28 was passed on June 5, 2012 through the California initiative process. Proposition 28 was an initiative to amend the California Constitution. The change to the Constitution aims to reduce the amount of time a legislature can remain in the California legislature, but it would increase the total amount of time that a legislator could spend in one house to twelve years in total and it would only affect an legislators elected after June 5, 2012 (“In Depth” 2). The legislator could choose how the twelve years where spent, whether in just the Assembly, just the Senate, or any combination of the two. The legislators would still be subject to the same terms, but just the limits on them would increase.
The slandering that took place in both elections held many
Let me say, incidentally, that my opponent, my opposite number for the vice presidency on the Democratic ticket, does have his wife on the pay roll and has had her on his pay roll for the past ten years. Now just let me say this: That’s his business, and I’m not critical of him for doing that. You will have to pass judgement on that particular point” (Nixon). Upon hearing Nixon say this, the American listener is focused on their judgment of whether Senator Sparkman should have his wife on the payroll, not that Nixon took a low political shot at his opponent to defend himself. By stating that he is “not critical” of the senator and by telling the American people the judgement is theirs, Nixon
Meaning they will do anything as long as it doesn 't threaten their principal goal which is reelection.” (Arnold, 5). Reelection is the main goal but members of Congress will do other things that are beneficial to their constituency unlike the theory that Mayhew brings up. Although, congressmen have to watch out for what they say and how they act since there will always be an opponent who will attempt to bring all those things to light to use them as an advantage and most of the time is decisions and conditions that the public hasn 't even noticed and wouldn 't at all if it wasn 't for the robo-challenger. In addition to that reasoning congressmen are extremely unpopular with the public because they have to take into consideration the input of experts, generalist and ordinary people.
In California there are 6 million students that attend run-down, crumbling schools. However, this can all be changed with prop 51, prop 51 is a helping hand to all the public schools in California that are outdated. Prop 51 helps them out by repairing the schools, and constructing new buildings so that the students won’t be overcrowded in just one room.
From 1848 to 1920, an outrageous span of 70 years, women fought for equal rights, to have their voices and opinions heard. Little by little women have gained rights they have so passionately fought for. In 1973, about 50 years after women became eligible to vote, and began to be taken more seriously, the case of Roe v Wade granted women to have one of the most impactful rights to date, to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Now, it is safe to say that all women and perhaps most men would not want women to lose the rights they have today, especially because there have been many influential women around the world who have been given the chance to be impactful because of the rights they possess. So, if we do not want to take away women’s rights and
Planned Parenthood is a topic that is continuously discussed in correlation with the concept of money as many believe that it “...emphasizes abortions instead of preventative care” (Attira). Because of birthrights, abortions, and the controversy that surrounds such issues, many individuals believe that the government should not be responsible for providing funding. Therefore, actually defunding Planned Parenthood is often brought up as a solution to the highly-debated consensus of government-funded healthcare services. Although many believe that creating a barrier between opinion and action is a positive push, actually defunding the program would be more catastrophic than perceived. Defunding Planned Parenthood would mean blocking and preventing individuals from receiving the health care that they are reliant on.
A citizen should act upon their free will or judgement without having the pressures of society around them. The House of Representatives member should worry about the diverse community values rather than the citizen. Even if they are in a specific party they do not have to vote upon what that party thinks what is
