All through its history, Islam has been seen as a religious staple which began in (seventh) century Arabia with the prophet Muhammad who lived between the years of 570 AD and 632 AD. During that time period he was given a heavenly divine revelation that is recorded in the Quran. These revelations are still trusted to be true in these modern times by the Muslim followers.
It is imperative to understand that, throughout its existence, Muslims don't see Islam as being something new. Muslims trust that Allah, which means, The God, in Arabic, is the same God who uncovered himself to Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Because of this, the law, not theology, has always taken over as the most important concern to Muslims. The belief is that it provides the path Muslim must follow to know God's Will. The main focus of the law are what is called the five pillars of Islam. These are to be followed if one is a true Muslim. They are a confession of faith, worship the religion, donating income to the church, fasting during a specific time of year (Ramadan), and a pilgrimage to Mecca once in one’s lifetime.
The first Pilar of Islam is that a Muslim is someone who believes that other God that the Islamic God and that he used Muhammad as his messenger. Islam states that God is the creator, ruler, and judge of the world. He is forgiving and merciful. On one’s last day on earth, he will judge every individual by their deeds, according to the Book of Deeds. Muslims should also know that Muhammad is the messenger of God. If you are near a Mosque (Islamic church) the caller (muezzin) is in the tower (minaret) of the Mosque signaling it is time for prayer. Before the actual prayer, Muslims wash themselves to show purity to God. The prayer is done in the direction of the Holy city of Mecca. Muslims pray by kneeling and reciting passages from the Quran. On Friday at noon, the payer is supposed to be done at a Mosque, but any other time it can be done anywhere.
