There have been a few ideas when it comes to solving this issue, and truthfully, most of these ideas will fall flat on their faces; meanwhile, arming teachers seems to be a possible solution. Arming teachers will deter shooters, secure students fears from outside threats, and in the worst case scenario can stop a school shooter before they can commit mass murder.

Twenty years ago Arnold Goldstein came up with the concept of, Aggression Replacement Training, also known as ART. Over the past two decades the concept of replacing violent, aggressive, or antisocial behavior with prosocial skills has been proven to be very effective. I have chosen to incorporate the same concept of replacing aggressive behavior, but I’d like to tailor it around aggressive juveniles, my program would be called, Juvenile Aggression Replacement and Education. The main goals of the program would be to teach juveniles how to control their emotions and violent out spurts, reduce aggression and violence amongst the juveniles in the program, teach juveniles “prosocial skills” that can replace the aggressive behavior, and reduce recidivism amongst juveniles with a past crime history and prevent any future crimes for the juveniles who do not have a criminal record.

From 1992 to 1994 school related homicides and suicides doubled. Many student grow up being bullied. These students have a hard time during school.
Examining the environments where these youth come from can show that this problem stems from unmet needs, such as a lack of a support system, lack of a stable home environment, lack of food, lack of proper parental supervision etc. The factors could be various. Multi-systemic therapy approaches tailored to the needs of the individual could address the stressing issues and offer a support system for the youth and guidance to help them follow a constructive path instead of a destructive one. (Tarolla, Wagner, Rabinowitz, & Tubman, 2002) Organizations such as after school programs and community clubs have programs that give spaces to youth where they can have adults to lean on when they need, and access to services they (and their families) might not otherwise have. For every dollar spent on programs like this in prevention, thirteen can be saved in costs of running prisons and punitive programs.
Scientific evidence has shown that families that maintain certain discipline can help mediate the chaos and stress of addiction. This lack of parental attention seems to be more detrimental to girls and boys; hence, the need for family strengthening interventions that encourage parents to be more involved with their children.
