I did miss several questions, but if I’m being honest I think the main reason why I missed those questions was because I got bored. The passages are tedious and I strongly believe that they are mainly testing my ability to take a test, rather than the knowledge I possess. I think this is the main reason why 5th graders are struggling to achieve good scores on these tests.

TEKS 5.6 (E) I will separate the students into groups of four. They will work cooperatively to finish a graphic organizer. This graphic organizer will include the main idea (the how and the why), significant details of the text and a brief summary.
TEKS 5.6 (D) I will divide the students into groups. Then I will pass out a sheet of paper with different sentences that will convey different tones. Students will need identify the tone by writing a few sentences that explain what tone is being used. Also, they need to back up their answers by providing textual
