Welcome everyone and thank you all for coming today for our eighth grade promotion. I remember the first day I walked through those teal gates, it was terrifying, but yet at the same time it was exciting. I remember looking out at the sea of new faces not sure what to expect next.I am sure we all had similar memories of that day - how anxious we were, unsure of what Iron Horse would be like. At that time little did we know that this school was soon to become like a second home for us and that these faces would become some of the best friends for a lifetime. Over the years we learned several lessons of love and friendship, of bonding and trusting one another. We will soon be starting our journey in a new world with a different set of people. We are again at a juncture of life where we will constantly strive to climb the ladders of success, both academic and social.
All throughout middle school, we took chances and experienced changes; chances personally of setting higher goals and standards in life; chances academically with grades and extracurriculars, and chances socially of branching out and creating new friendships or stronger bonds;

In 6th grade, it was a step into new territory, a run forward when we had just mastered walking. 7th grade was the year of discovery — it was all more familiar, but with new opportunities opening up to us, we gained experiences that we otherwise would have never been aware of. Our 8th grade year began with the subtle realization that we were now at the top of our school and concluded with the development of new goals and ambitions for our first year of high school.
