When people hear the word terrorism most people think of 9/11 and then their minds will sprint towards Muslims and the molded sense of what they think the Jihad (the struggle) means. What most people fail to realize is that there are different forms of terrorism and diverse ways to reach that groups goals through terror. Not all terror groups are Muslim and not all terrorist groups attack only the western ideology. There are two scopes of terrorism that essentially define their motives and explains how, what, where, and why they do what they do. Which was fighting the same problem of a completely free Irish lands and the fight against taxes. This was a precursor to the Irish civil war that only last from (1922-23); it was also nearly a decade before severe famine and mass migration of Irish immigrants flooding to America. The IRA lost the civil war bought fought consistently against what they called the British imperialistic state of Northern Ireland which was their main conflict. The anti- treaty group last until 1969 when they split into two major groups with different ideologies. The official Ireland republic army OIRA was what remained after the group had split. The other group was known as the Provisionals PIRA, a group whose ideals were modeled after the political views of Karl Marx the renowned father of Communism. The Provisionals main reason for the split from the IRA was due to the disagreement of their stand towards abstentionism, the boycott of politically assembly, also the use of violence in Northern Ireland was a large point of argument. PIRA began to move away from the military aspect of the IRA and began to get more politically involved forming what is known as the Sinn Fein or Workers’ Party of Ireland, the group is still politically active today. However, Hezbollah is the only one out of the two that still has a serious negative influence today’s world in multiple facets, but mostly fear. Hezbollah not only has a considerable influence within the Middle East (mostly Lebanon), but with the additional support of Iran it makes them a serious threat in which even the U.S. military is having trouble combating. The constant bombings and assassinations/ killing of Hezbollah leaders or affiliates since the 1980’s still haven’t stopped them or weakened them. There are still arguments made that it has only made the organization stronger. On the other hand, IRA has for the most part dispersed and the only remnants of the IRA that are left. There are those who remain in the political party that had branched off from the OIRA and there is the small group who still believe they are fighting for a cause, but those people are fewer than today’s day
