I think we can improve our school systems by improving something that we lack. We need to improve our students' confidence; we can do this by adding these texts to our school systems book clubs. The name of the book I'm choosing is The Odyssey. It is about Odysseus’ journey and trails as he goes on a quest and comes home. This story takes place back 2,700 years ago. The main character being Odysseus going on a journey out at sea needing confidence for his journey Bullying is a big problem these days affecting thousands of people in a negative way. The article “Fast Facts: Preventing Bullying”. This text shows us how big the problem of bullying is. This can help our students reach the confidence needed to stand up to bullies. “The Odyssey” and “Fast Facts: Preventing Bullying” should be used by the book club because they share the theme that in life, you need to be confident that you can instill these traits in our students, to help them reach their personal best.

This is evident when the author writes “Nearly 14% of public schools report that bullying is a discipline problem occurring daily or at least once a week.” This connects to my evidence because, when 14% of students are reporting bullying at least once a week this shows that public schools are not doing what they can to protect the safety of students. This is showing that confidence is needed to stand up against bullies if our school systems are not doing much against it.
