When people are asked to name some of the classic Christmas movies, they are quick to say movies such as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1964), Frosty the Snowman (1969), and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), but they forget to mention the dismal, chilling The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). But why is that, doesn’t Tim Burton still show the joy that Christmas brings, but in a slightly new perspective? Aren’t The Nightmare Before Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas quite similar depictions of how some may deal with the “Christmas blues”? By looking back on his past makes Scrooge realize why he truly hates Christmas time. It is because his lover, Belle, left him for money. This ironically parallels Scrooge’s future with love ones. He pushes others away and even holds back money from his own family. The Ghost of Christmas Present just makes Scrooge worse, by showing that his actions are slowly killing Bob Cratchit and the rest of his family.
You may often come across the Christmas Carol story in many different forms but the play and movie are the most common. Say for example, the play written by Charles Dickens. This play takes place in various places in the city of London. The Christmas Carol play comes to life on Christmas Eve in the winter of 1843.(Dickens, 1) Ebenezer Scrooge is the main character who has absolutely no respect for Christmas at all. Matter of fact, he despises this merry holiday which is called to be the conflict of the play but Bob Cratchit, who works for him, is just filled with the thought of it.
Written in the 1840s, Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol” is a classic novella that displays themes about greed, generosity, and redemption. Although written in the Elizabethan Era, it is still relevant today’s society. The Ghost of Christmas Present changes Scrooge’s perspective on how he should view Christmas as a whole and changes his negative views into positive ones. In Stave 3 of a Christmas Carol, the Ghost brings Scrooge to see a vision of the Cratchit’s celebrating Christmas together as a family.
This spirit is sitting on a Ginormous throne of food and is a very jolly spirit with a loud voice. The ghost takes Scrooge to the present day and he walks around acknowledging the poor people that are living on London's streets that he previously didn’t know about or acknowledge. The ghost of Christmas present then takes him to a small house. Scrooge asks who the house belongs to and the ghost of Christmas present replies “this is the cratches home”. Scrooge looks inside and is shocked to learn that Bob Cratchet has children.

The Christmas Carol is a great and popular story, people have made movies and plays about it, though the play can be more accurate. The movies can be very accurate to the actual story. Although it is not a very long play there are many different things going on. The story overall has a great message to it. As in, never say that Christmas lame or not worth it.
The ghost of Christmas past, present, and future(Dickens 9,10). As Marly leaves and the ghost of christmas past comes, Scrooge at first is very frightened. The ghost then tells scrooge to touch her robe and they magically travel to the old past when they see Scrooge as a young school boy where they can see how Ebenezer’s father really hated him because his wife died giving birth to him. Now Scrooge’s dad blames him for it(Dickens 13,14,15). The spirit next takes him to his teenage years where scrooge sees himself as a young happy and poor boy at a dance party with his long time girlfriend.
