People can change in many ways; it just takes some time for them to realize. This is a story about a man who finds his way to becoming a better person. There is a grumpy old miser named Scrooge. He is very unapproachable and is self-centered. Soon 3 ghosts came to visit him. The first one is the Ghost of Christmas Past. The second one is the Ghost of Christmas Present. The third one is the Ghost of Christmas Future. The past ghost makes Scrooge feel like he should apologize to the people he’s done wrong to. The present ghost makes him feel like he should be a more caring person. The future ghost makes him vow to change so he doesn’t end up like how his future looks. Scrooge was unapproachable and also disrespectful to his employees. He wouldn’t pay his employees enough to provide for their family. There was once a boy caroling at Scrooge's door, but he hit a ruler on his window to scare the boy away. When the Ghost of Christmas Past visited Scrooge he showed Scrooge what his past used to be like which made Scrooge feel apologetic towards his employee Bob Cratchit. The ghost of Christmas past also made Scrooge feel that he should’ve given the kid caroling at his door something. On Page 255 Paragraph 83, Scrooge states “No, no. I would like to be able to say a word or two to my clerk right now! That’s all!” On Page 251 Paragraph 21, Scrooge says “There was a boy singing a Christmas Carol outside my door last night. I should have given him something: that’s all.” These scenes show how Scrooge regrets what he’s done in the past and feels sorry for how he’s treated people. He would make fun of his Nephew for being poor and still celebrating Christmas. He also thought that if people died, it was good because there were too many people. When the Ghost of Christmas Present showed Scrooge that his nephew was making fun of him for his selfish ways and Bob Cratchit couldn’t afford Tiny Tims treatment, he started to care. He didn’t want Tiny Tim to die, and wanted to talk to his nephew. On Page 275 Paragraph 29 Scrooge says “Spirit, please, make me visible! Make me audible. I want to talk with my nephew and my niece!” On Page 271 Paragraph 55 Scrooge says “Spirit, tell me if Tiny Tim will live.” The first scene shows how he wants to talk to his nephew and for once he calls his nephew's wife his niece. The second scene shows how he wants the spirit to tell him if Tiny Tim will live. This is evidence that Scrooge cares about his nephew, his nephew's wife, and Tiny
